The expansion of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and the use of intelligent agents in digital platforms have significantly transformed traditional methods of contract formation. Intelligent agents—software capable of making decisions and executing transactions without direct human intervention—have come to play an increasingly important role in e-commerce, financial services, and online marketplaces. Contracts of adhesion are typically agreements where terms are pre-determined by a more powerful party, leaving the consumer with no genuine opportunity to negotiate or alter the provisions. This issue becomes more complex in AI-driven environments, as processing speeds, automated decision-making, and algorithmic opacity can exacerbate the imbalance between contracting parties. Adopting a descriptive-analytical approach, this study examines the legal dimensions of consumer protection regarding contracts of adhesion resulting from the operations of intelligent agents. The findings indicate that traditional contract law frameworks are insufficient to fully address the challenges posed by AI-based contracts and require revision and supplementation. In this context, principles such as algorithmic transparency, the accountability of technology providers, the possibility of human oversight, and the strengthening of consumer protection rules can play a vital role in establishing contractual balance. Furthermore, formulating specific regulations for automated transactions and defining the limits of liability for the parties involved can help prevent potential abuses.
