A plea bargain is an example of contractual criminal law and is an agreement made between the prosecutor and the defendant, through which the defendant benefits from legal benefits and investigations by admitting guilt and removing the burden of investigation and evidence collection from the prosecution. Among the benefits of this institution are the reduction in the volume of criminal cases, the speed of processing and execution of punishment, compensation for the victim, prevention of recidivism, and the reintegration of the offender This institution, while providing the basis for and encouraging individuals to compromise and reform, as emphasized in the Quran and Hadiths, can be considered one of the examples of de-judicialization in Iranian law. The weaknesses of this institution include the prosecutor's broad powers, ambiguity in discovering the truth, and the possibility of the defendants accepting false guilt.
